Talking is Teaching

Talking is Teaching is a national public awareness and action campaign that uses books, parent videos, text messaging, social media, and information from expert partners to empower parents and caregivers with fun and easy ways to improve their children’s early learning. The campaign is grounded in early literacy research and helps parents and caregivers recognize their power to boost their children’s early brain and vocabulary development through simple, everyday actions - like describing things while walking outside, or singing songs together during bath time.

Family Literacy Grant: Connecting with Caregivers

Connecting with Caregivers is the three-year project being funded by the current cycle of the Family Literacy Grant. NCLS member library staff will strengthen relationships with families with young children in their communities, aided by mini-grants that will support the implementation of best practices learned in the five component trainings that comprise Ready to Read at New York Libraries.
