Cape Vincent Library is on a Roll!

That's right, Cape Vincent Community Library is on a roll...rolling stacks that is!   Rolling stacks have become a viable option for a lot of libraries throughout the state and they are extremely beneficial to libraries that have limited space.  The library's use of these innovative space savers caught the attention of NYLA and Sharon and the library were featured in the NYLA eBulletin.  Read the full article here.

Library Advocacy Works!

I want to send a big Thank You to everyone who called, emailed, or visited their State Legislators to remind them about the value that libraries bring to their communities, and how State aid helps libraries with their mission to serve all people.  Your hard work and perseverance has led to this wonderful outcome.

Please take a moment to thank your State Legislators.  One of the things I hear continually from State Legislators is that libraries are one of the few groups that bother to send a simple “Thank You” when something good happens.  So please let them hear it again! You can find their contact information by clicking here.

Early Closure Friday, April 15

NCLS will be closing at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 15th.

It has been a long journey, but we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Or shall we say the light at the end of a bulb? This Friday, National Grid will be shutting off our power to complete the final step of hooking up our solar panels. NCLS staff will be unavailable until Monday morning, except on an emergency basis. If there is an emergency, contact the emergency support number and someone will contact you.

We will have a backup generator operating the server room. Automation (Sirsi), catalog, websites, email, etc., will be available for the libraries and the public.

The delivery schedule for Friday will remain unchanged.

If you have any questions, please contact Stephen Gaines at
