This summer, North Country libraries are offering a collaborative summer program calendar! This 6-week session will run from July 6-August 14, will align with the CSLP theme Imagine Your Story, and will mainly take place online. Patrons will be able to access storytime, booktalks, gaming, STEM activities, and more - no matter how far away they live from the libraries offering them. Want to get involved? Here are some resources to help get you started:
The Summer Reading page of the staff guide is now published! It includes a sample letter you can send to your school librarians and/or administrators, instruction on how students can link their student OverDrive account to the NCLS collection, and information about READsquared, the online summer reading platform provided by the NYS Library. (This will also be the place you can send your events to be added to the shared calendar that's currently in development.) The Summer Reading page is just part of the staff guide, which also includes a page on online programming tips.
NCLS will be distributing yard signs for each library promoting the collaborative program next month. Every library will receive one, and if you want to request a second one for another location in your community, I have a limited number to share, free of cost. If you need more than two, I've included the original file for the design on the staff guide; please feel free to have as many additional signs printed as your budget will allow.
Looking for some offline activities? Our local PBS station has shared a summer learning booklet and activity sheets that libraries can print and distribute to families. Include them in packets with paper summer reading logs or giveaway books!
