Youth Services Roundup 2/21/19

The official poster celebrating the 100th anniversary of Children's Book Week has been released! Download it for free on the Every Child a Reader website, and then check out the other free resources on the website to plan your own library celebration!

Just a reminder that the deadline for the Family Literacy mini-grant is next Thursday, February 28. Each grant recipient will create up to five loanable kits for families with materials provided by NCLS - including board books and activities for children, as well as early literacy tips for adults. These kits are a great way to encourage early literacy at home and to kickstart a conversation with parents and caregivers about the importance of talking, reading, and singing, with children. Don't delay, apply today!

Hunger Solutions NY, an official NYS Summer Reading partner, is offering a webinar or March 5 from 1-2pm for libraries interested in learning more about summer meal programs. Learn how schools and organizations in low-income communities may be eligible to offer free, nutritious meals and/or snacks through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and how sponsors across New York State are growing participation through community partnerships. From Jbrary: "I’m always on the lookout for new books to share in babytime, either to read aloud or to put on display. Here are some 2019 picture books that I think will be great to share at babytime..."
