SAVE THE DATE!

Are you ready for a universe of stories? The NCLS summer reading workshop for 2019 will be held on Thursday, March 7 from 10am-3pm. During this half day workshop, we’ll explore how to incorporate this year’s CSLP theme into your summer programming, talk about how to work with community partners, and get a hands-on look at the new NCLS mobile maker kits. Bring an appetite for lunch and a bag for all the swag you’ll take home with you... Look for more details and a registration link on the NCLS summer reading page soon!

GRANT OPPORTUNITY

The Ezra Jack Keats Fuondation is offering up to $500 for eligible organizations to provide creative, innovative programs that serve children from preschool to grade 12. Get the details on the EJK website. Deadline is March 31, 2019. Good luck!

COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT

Teen Librarian Toolbox has put together a handy list of resources to help you with your young adult and middle grade purchasing next year. And if you're looking to take a deep dive into YA literature, don't forget to sign up for the upcoming RA Genre Study on Young Adult and New Adult, led by Katie Male-Riordan on December 18!

SCHOOL AGE CODING

Girls Who Code Clubs are FREE after-school programs for girls in grades 3-5 or grades 6-12 to join a fellowship of supportive peers and use computer science to change the world. Clubs are led by facilitators who can be teachers, librarians, parents, or volunteers from any background or field. No prior computer science experience is required; many facilitators have no technical experience and learn to code alongside their Club members. Learn more here!
