Youth Services Roundup 10/12/17

Now that we've turned the corner into fall (maybe?), it's time to start thinking about summer again - or at least summer reading. The CSLP (Collaborative Summer Library Program, for any rookies out there) catalogs have arrived at NCLS, and they are full of very cool gear celebrating the 2018 theme: Libraries Rock! Each library should have received a catalog in their delivery envelope, but if you haven't, or if you'd just feel better having a couple more in your building (because obviously), just give me a shout, and I'll send some your way. Happy shopping!

From the YALSA blog: "A taskforce of YALSA members and staff have been at work updating YALSA’s “Competencies for Librarians Serving Youth”...YALSA would like feedback from the library community and beyond to help strengthen this draft document.  A draft of the updated version (pdf) is available for your review.  To provide your comments, use this online form." Deadline October 18!

Just a reminder that the deadline for students to nominate titles for NYLA's Three Apples Book Award is Tuesday, October 31. Be sure to share the nomination page with your library kids and teens!
