Construction Grant Announcements

Legislators announced that many North Country libraries will receive funding to assist their libraries with construction needs.  These state funds allow libraries to enhance their infrastructure and better serve their communities.  Congratulations to the libraries listed below that will be receiving State Aid for Library Construction funding for their construction projects!

The purpose of the Incentive Grant is to highlight important issues in library service and to encourage libraries to improve and excel in these areas. The Incentive Grant changes from year to year to allow NCLS to focus on vital areas of library service that are important to you.

Architect and Engineering Fees as Eligible Construction Expenses!

New York State Assistant Commissioner for Libraries and State Librarian Bernard A. Margolis announced today that the Board of Regents approved amendments to the Commissioner’s Regulations 90.12 and 90.18 regarding libraries during their July 17, 2017 meeting.  The regulations included changes regarding State Aid for Library Construction to allow architect and engineering fees to be submitted as eligible expenses for new and ongoing projects.  Architect and engineering fees for feasibility studies remain an ineligible expense.
